WHITMAN — Chief Scott D. Benton reports that the Whitman Police Department arrested a juvenile last night following a stabbing.

A 16-year-old juvenile male is charged with Assault to Murder and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

On Sunday, June 16, Whitman Police were dispatched to a home on Belcher Drive for a report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, police learned that a 16-year-old male had been stabbed at the corner of Washington Street and Belcher Drive. The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. As of Monday morning, the victim was expected to survive his injuries.

The incident remains under active investigation.
