Wakefield Police Department Cites Driver Following Rollover Crash

WAKEFIELD — Chief Steven Skory reports that the Wakefield Police Department cited a driver following a Sunday evening crash.

At 6:42 p.m., Wakefield Police were dispatched to a report of a crash in the area of 449 North Ave.

Upon arrival, officers conducted an on-scene investigation and determined that the driver of a 2011 BMW 335 accelerated and crossed the center line, lost control and clipped an oncoming 2018 Jeep Cherokee head-on, causing the Jeep to roll over.

The BMW had been traveling southbound on North Avenue at the time of the crash, and the 18-year-old male driver, of Wakefield, was issued a summons for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding and a Marked Lanes Violation.

There were no significant injuries as a result of the crash.
