Oyster River Cooperative School District Says Goodbye to Principal Carrie Vaich

DURHAM – Superintendent James Morse announces that Carrie Vaich is leaving her position as Mast Way Elementary School Principal at the end of this year.

Principal Vaich has chosen to move on from her position at Mast Way Elementary School for personal reasons, and will end her seven-year career with the district this June.

“Carrie has been a dedicated, supportive principal throughout her career at Mast Way, and has helped her students and staff flourish and grow,” Superintendent Morse said. “She will be missed greatly, and we wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

During her career at Mast Way, Principal Vaich started a full day kindergarten program, implemented the Eureka Math Program and supported improvements to the school’s mental health and wellness agenda.

In 2018, Mast Way was also honored as the only National Blue Ribbon School in the state for its academic performance.

Superintendent Morse will appoint an interim principal for the 2019-20 school year. Beginning in November, the district will begin a thorough process that will include a wide range of stakeholders to assist in finding Principal Vaich’s permanent replacement for the 2020-21 school year.
