Chelmsford Police Cite Driver Following Multi-Vehicle Crash that Damaged Storefront

CHELMSFORD — Chief James Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department responded earlier today after a vehicle crashed through the front of a restaurant following a multi-car collision.

At approximately 2:35 p.m., Chelmsford Police were dispatched to a report of a crash at 118 Chelmsford St. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that had crashed through the front of the Domino’s Pizza at that location.

Officers conducted an on-scene investigation and learned that the driver of a BMW traveling east on Chelmsford Street struck the rear of a Toyota Highlander before continuing over a snowbank and into the rear of a parked, unoccupied Mazda 3. The Mazda was subsequently pushed through the front of the restaurant.

Two restaurant patrons sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash, and were transported to Lowell General Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The driver of the BMW, a 46-year-old Chelmsford resident, was cited for Operating to Endanger.

There were no injuries to anyone else involved in the crash. The building was deemed structurally sound, but is closed as a result of the damage sustained in the crash.
