WOBURN — Woburn Public Schools is proud to celebrate Malcolm White Elementary School and Mary D. Altavesta Elementary School for being named 2026 Schools of Recognition by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
DESE recognizes schools that make substantial progress toward their annual accountability targets, with particular emphasis this year on improved achievement in English language arts and mathematics.
The two elementary schools are among 56 schools recognized across Massachusetts in 2026.
“Having two Woburn schools receive this recognition is a tremendous accomplishment for our students and staff,” said Superintendent Matthew Crowley. “I am proud of the hard work of the Malcolm White and Mary D. Altavesta communities. At the same time, MCAS is only one measure of what happens in our schools. Across Woburn Public Schools, our students and educators do amazing things every day, and this recognition is one more reason to celebrate them.”
