EXETER — Superintendent Dr. Christopher Andriski is pleased to share SAU 16’s new strategic plan, which focuses on the whole student, supporting academic achievement alongside students’ social and emotional growth, well-being and sense of belonging.
The plan establishes four priorities: Thriving Learners, Empowered and Supported Educators, Engaged Communities and Strong Partnerships, and Future-Ready Learning Systems.
These priorities will ensure that SAU 16 remains focused, responsive and aligned with the evolving needs of students, staff and the broader community.
The plan’s core values include equity, academic excellence, well-being, growth mindset, and belonging and connection. These values guide efforts to create inclusive learning environments and prepare students for life after graduation.
SAU 16’s “Portrait of a Graduate” helps define that vision. It describes graduates who can solve problems independently and collaboratively, communicate with confidence and empathy, and contribute to their communities.
The previous strategic plan expired in 2023. Development of the new plan involved a Strategic Planning Task Force with school board representatives, administrators and teachers. The planning process included a survey and a Strategic Planning Summit in March 2025, followed by work to develop measurable goals and action steps.
The plan also prioritizes professional learning, staff wellness, collaboration and leadership opportunities for educators. It calls for clear communication and strong relationships with families and community partners.
SAU 16 will measure progress through academic assessments, annual student and staff surveys, staff retention, community participation and career-connected learning, among other measures. Results will be compiled and reported each June. A public strategic plan dashboard provides a way for families and community members to follow that progress.
“We want every student to feel known, supported and challenged in our schools,” Superintendent Andriski said. “That means helping students build strong academic skills while also learning to solve problems, work with others, and navigate challenges. This plan gives us collective goals and specific ways to measure our progress.”
The Public Dashboard will be available after it is reviewed by the Joint Board at the October 19 meeting.
