ACTON — The Town of Acton, in partnership with the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CISBRA), is pleased to share the recent success of the Brazil–Massachusetts Business Networking event.
The networking event held on Sept. 22 at Acton Town Hall brought together representatives from the Brazilian business community, regional chambers of commerce, government officials and economic development organizations to discuss opportunities for collaboration between Brazilian businesses and organizations in the Commonwealth.
The program included presentations and discussions focused on Brazil’s business environment, the Brazilian community in Massachusetts, opportunities for trade and investment, and potential avenues for future collaboration and business delegations.
Sen. Jamie Eldridge and State Reps. Dan Sena and Simon Cataldo emphasized the importance of the Brazilian community in the Commonwealth and presented data and case studies illustrating the Brazilian presence in the region.
Following the networking event, CISBRA representatives John Cuttino and Ricardo Mota joined Acton Economic Development Director Patricia Costa for an economic development tour showcasing Acton and the broader Route 2 corridor.
The group’s first stop was Abside Networks, where CEO Laurent Perraud spoke about his company and its operations in Acton, highlighting the Town’s growing technology- and innovation-oriented business environment.
The delegation also visited Acton’s recently approved Innovation Overlay District, an initiative intended to support economic diversification and encourage innovative development in appropriate areas of the community. The district is designed to create opportunities for new and innovative businesses while supporting the continued growth of Acton’s technology and life sciences sectors.
The delegation continued along the Route 2 corridor, traveling from the Concord Rotary to Devens, providing the CISBRA representatives with an overview of the region’s commercial, industrial and innovation assets, as well as the connections among communities along the corridor. While in Devens, the group met with MassDevelopment representatives Michael Sweeney and Anne Marie Dowd, who provided an overview of Devens and its role as a regional center for business, innovation, and investment.
The initiative reflects the Acton Office of Economic Development’s commitment to regional collaboration as a strategy for strengthening the regional economy. By building relationships with neighboring communities, regional economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, and business organizations, the office seeks to expand opportunities that extend beyond municipal boundaries.
Through these relationships, the Office of Economic Development aims to create new business opportunities for local and regional companies, facilitate connections with international markets, and strengthen international supply-chain relationships.
“The event and the tour created connections and gave our guests a better understanding of the business environment and economic assets in Acton and along the Route 2 corridor,” said Acton Economic Development Director Patricia Costa. “Regional collaboration has always been an important component of our economic development work, and establishing relationships with international chambers of commerce allows us to take that collaboration a step further by connecting our business community with new markets, partners and potential supply-chain opportunities.”
The Town of Acton looks forward to continuing its dialogue with CISBRA and its partners, identifying opportunities to strengthen international business relationships, promoting investment and connecting businesses and communities across Massachusetts and Brazil.
