MEDWAY — Two Medway High School students were recently named Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Seniors Elle Heiden and Aaron Simon are two of approximately 34,000 students nationwide being recognized as Commended Students for their academic achievements.
Commended Students were selected from a group of over 1.2 million applicants who entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program competition. Students entered the contest by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT, which serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), Commended Students are among the top 50,000 high scorers who entered the 2027 competition. Commended Students exhibit not only outstanding achievement, but also academic potential.
“Congratulations to Elle and Aaron on this incredible accomplishment,” said Assistant Superintendent and Interim Principal Paul Peri. “Their dedication to their academics and Preliminary SAT preparations paid off and we are thrilled that they have been recognized for their hard work. We cannot wait to see what they accomplish during their senior year and beyond.”
Heiden and Simon will receive letters of commendation from the NMSC and Medway High School for their academic achievements.
“We are proud to have Elle and Aaron representing Medway Public Schools within the National Merit Scholarship Program,” said Superintendent Armand Pires. “As commended students, these two seniors directly reflect what is possible when students are dedicated to their studies and supported by their school communities. We congratulate Elle and Aaron and cannot wait to see what their futures hold.”
