Stow Police Seek Criminal Complaint Against Officer Placed on Paid Administrative Leave

STOW — The Stow Police Department announces that it has filed a criminal complaint against one of its officers, Jason Rogers, for potential violations of state law.

On June 18, a Worcester County resident alleged that the officer improperly used departmental and state systems to access personal information. The complainant and officer were known to each other.

The Department immediately opened an investigation and placed the officer on paid administrative leave, actions consistent with existing policies as well as collective bargaining agreements. Such investigations are common and serve to determine the facts of a complaint.

The four-week internal affairs investigation found that the officer sought to obtain information related to the complainant multiple times in 2024 and 2025. This included five instances in which the officer accessed the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS); accessing such information for non-policing purposes is prohibited.

The Department filed the complaint on Friday, July 17. A clerk-magistrate will determine if there is enough evidence to support criminal charges at a future date.

The investigation also determined that the officer’s actions constituted multiple violations of departmental policy, as well as conduct unbecoming of an officer.

The Department has notified the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) of this finding as required by law. The Stow Police Department has shared the results of its investigation with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office as well as the Department of Criminal Justice Information Services.

As a result of this investigation, there will be an employee status hearing with the Town of Stow Select Board at a date yet to be determined.

As this is a personnel matter, and relates to an ongoing investigation, the Town and Stow Police Department will have no further comment.
