MAYNARD — The Maynard Fire Department and mutual aid partners responded Monday afternoon to a fire in a large, detached garage near a home on Taft Avenue.

On Monday, July 6, at 5:59 p.m., the Maynard Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a fire at 7 Taft Ave.

Companies arrived to find heavy fire showing from a 1 1/2 story, four-bay, detached garage.

Firefighters from Maynard and Stow quickly worked to contain the fire to the garage, and protected a nearby home. The garage was a total loss.

There were no reported injuries.

Firefighters from Stow, Concord and Acton provided mutual aid at the scene, as did ambulances from Carlisle and Pro Ambulances. Firefighters from Boxborough and Lincoln covered Maynard stations.

The cause remains under investigation by the Maynard Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

“Companies from Maynard and Stow worked seamlessly together to get water on this fire and protect the nearby home,” said Chief Angela Lawless. “I want to thank all of our mutual aid companies for their support and teamwork.”
