SOUTH EASTON — The Southeastern Regional School District is proud to share that Cassidy Phillips, a Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School senior, was recently honored for excelling at the college level with an induction onto the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-Massachusetts Academic Team.

Cassidy earned the distinction as a student at Massasoit Community College, where she earned an associate degree through the Early College Program.

Cassidy received special recognition for this honor at the Massachusetts State House, where she was awarded a medal on May 7, celebrating her alongside 30 other college students who were named to the PTK All-Massachusetts Academic Team.

She was also honored for making the 2026 PTK All-Massachusetts Academic Team during the Senior Scholarship Night held at Southeastern on Thursday, May 21.

PTK is an international honor society of two-year colleges, which has recognized and encouraged scholarship among community college students for 100 years while promoting the academic integrity of the associate degree program. PTK presents the award in partnership with the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges.

“I truly wasn’t expecting it and feel incredibly honored to receive this recognition, especially as a high schooler,” said Cassidy. “The ceremony at the State House was such a special experience and a moment I’ll always remember.”

After earning both an associate degree from Massasoit Community College, where she graduated with highest honors, and a high school diploma, Cassidy plans to attend Virginia Tech to study electrical engineering.

“All of these achievements would not be possible without the Early College High School program at Southeastern,” Cassidy said. “I am proud to have been a part of that program.”

The Southeastern Regional School District announced recently that 44 graduating seniors from Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School earned associate degrees this year through the Early College Program with Massasoit Community College. The longstanding program helps give students a strong start for college and career by allowing them to take college courses at Massasoit Community College while finishing their high school degrees.

Superintendent Holly McClanan and Principal Shawn Desmond commended Cassidy for her academic excellence, dedication and commitment to pursuing advanced educational opportunities while still in high school.

“Cassidy’s achievements reflect an incredible amount of hard work, determination and intellectual curiosity,” Principal Desmond said. “She has taken full advantage of the opportunities available through our Early College Program and has represented Southeastern with distinction both in the classroom and at the collegiate level. We are extremely proud of all that she has accomplished.”

“Cassidy’s recognition as a member of the PTK All-Massachusetts Academic Team is a tremendous accomplishment and speaks to the strength of our partnership with Massasoit Community College,” said Superintendent McClanan. “Students like Cassidy demonstrate what is possible when motivated young people are given access to rigorous academic opportunities and strong support systems. We congratulate her on this well-deserved honor and look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes in the future.”
