TAUNTON — Chief Edward Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday evening and arrested two people on warrants as part of the ensuing investigation.
On Tuesday, June 9, at about 7:07 p.m., Taunton Police were dispatched to the area of Meadow Street and Martel Avenue for report of gunshots.
In the area of 9 Martel Ave., officers located a vehicle with damage to its front end, including what appeared to be bullet holes. Officers also located numerous bullet casings in the area.
A gray car was reported to have pulled into the area and fired gunshots at a group of individuals standing in the area of 9 Martel Ave. before driving away from the area.
Before officers had arrived at the first scene, police, fire and EMS were then dispatched to another home in the same neighborhood for report of a gunshot victim. The victim, a 27-year-old man, was found with an apparent gunshot wound to his left arm. He was treated at the scene and transported by Brewster EMS to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton for treatment. He is expected to recover.
During the investigation, Taunton Police received reports that a vehicle matching the description of the car involved in the shooting was seen near Cooper Square and Monica Street. The investigation led to a nearby home on East Broadway. Taunton Police received assistance from a Raynham Police K-9 unit and Massachusetts State Police.
Through an investigation, Taunton Police determined that two individuals had warrants.
ISAIAH BIEN-AIME, AGE 18, of TAUNTON, was arrested on multiple warrants related to separate incidents in Fall River, and GIOVANNI CARVALHO, AGE 19, of PROVIDENCE, R.I., was arrested on a warrant for motor vehicle violations related to an incident in Taunton.
The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
