Newport Police Department Arrests Four in Major Drug Bust Following Investigation

NEWPORT — The Newport Police Department arrested four people on drug possession and distribution charges as the result of a month-long investigation. 

MATTHEW PRUE, AGE 46, of NEWPORT, was arrested and charged with: 

  • Sale of a Regulated Drug (Cocaine)
  • Trafficking of a Regulated Drug (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a Regulated Drug (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Regulated Drug (Depressant, Stimulant, and Narcotic Drugs)
  • Criminal Threatening

JENNIFER SANVILLE, AGE 40, of NEWPORT, was arrested and charged with:

  • Sale of a Regulated Drug (Cocaine)
  • Trafficking of a Regulated Drug (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a Regulated Drug (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Regulated Drug (Depressant, Stimulant, and Narcotic Drugs)
  • Habitual Criminals (Two Counts)
  • Aggravated Assault 
  • Criminal Threatening 

STANLEY CROWE, AGE 52, of NEWPORT, was arrested and charged with:

  • Dispensing of a Regulated Drug (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Regulated Drug (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Regulated Drug (Depressant, Stimulant, and Narcotic Drugs)
  • 2nd Degree Unlawful Restraint and Interference with access to Emergency Services

TRINA STETSON, AGE 47, of NEWPORT, was arrested and charged with: 

  • Knowingly Permitting Sale of a Regulated Drug (Cocaine)(Fentanyl) in a Dwelling
  • Possession of a Regulated Drug (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Regulated Drug (Depressant, Stimulant, and Narcotic Drugs)

In the early morning of Tuesday, June 9, the Newport Police Department executed a search warrant that led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of 57.73 grams of cocaine cut with fentanyl and over $4,500. The bust is the result of a month-long investigation led by Newport Police Officer Andrew Gonyaw. 

PRUE, SANVILLE, CROWE, and STETSON were each arrested on a number of drug possession, trafficking, and sales charges. PRUE, SANVILLE, and CROWE are also facing charges related to separate investigations. 

SANVILLE was held without bail and issued Conditions of Release. PRUE and CROWE were held on a bail of $25,000, and CROWE was lodged by Probation and Parole, as he was found in violation of his parole. STETSON was released from custody with a citation to appear in court at a later date.

They will be arraigned in Orleans District Court on Wednesday afternoon.
