LENOX — Morris Elementary School was recently awarded the Gold Level of Distinction at the Northeast Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Conference, one of only three Massachusetts school districts and 17 across the entire Northeast to receive the honor this year.

The award recognizes schools committed to building positive, predictable, effective and equitable learning communities for all students. The PBIS framework is designed to improve student outcomes by promoting positive behavior, building strong relationships and creating supportive school cultures.

Assistant Principal Holly Soules has been instrumental in advancing PBIS at Morris Elementary School, leading the systems that earned the school this recognition.

Morris’ PBIS frameworks include four schoolwide expectations: Rise to the Challenge, Own Your Actions, Always Work Together and Respect Yourself and Others (ROAR). The award recognizes Morris’ ongoing efforts to establish clear expectations for students and creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment suitable for student success.

“This recognition reflects the collective commitment, consistency and care that each Morris school community member brings to the table every day,” Assistant Principal Soules said. “Creating and maintaining a positive, equitable, safe and supportive learning environment for students takes teamwork, patience and dedication, and this honor is a direct result of your efforts. The systems and practices we have built together continue to make a difference for our students.”

“I am so pleased that the Morris School was one of only three recipients of the Gold Award; but, it comes as no surprise,” said Superintendent Dr. William Collins. “This award points to the tireless work of Principal Kelley, Assistant Principal Soules, and the entire staff toward creating a supportive child-centered culture of positive behavior interventions. I commend the adults and the students on this impressive accomplishment!”
