RANDOLPH — The Randolph Fire Department and mutual aid partners overcame challenging terrain as they extinguished several brush fires that burned about six acres of wooded area.
On Tuesday, May 5, at approximately 4:24 p.m., the Randolph Fire Department, Canton Fire Department and Milton Fire Department all responded to a report of smoke in the area of Interstate 93 and Route 24.
Nothing was found in the area of the highways, but a search determined that the smoke was coming from a wooded area in Randolph. Firefighters soon located three separate fires burning about six acres on Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) land behind Harmony Hill Farm at 354 High St.
Brush trucks from Randolph, Canton, Sharon, Norwood, Abington, Rockland and DCR responded, as did engines from Randolph, Canton, Holbrook, Milton and Braintree. Norfolk County Control and Randolph Police also provided support.
Firefighters worked in challenging, wooded terrain and extinguished all three fires by 8:15 p.m. There were no reported injuries.
The cause remains under investigation by the Randolph Fire Department.
