BURLINGTON — Superintendent Eric Conti and Principal Mark Sullivan are pleased to share that the Burlington High School Marching Band performed in the 30th Annual America’s Home Town Thanksgiving Parade in Plymouth.
The annual parade was held on Saturday, Nov. 22, and opening ceremonies began at 9 a.m. before the parade set off at 10 a.m. Participating band students played pieces from the franchise Wicked, and dressed up to fully immerse themselves in the performance.
“Ourstudents practiced for a significant amount of time in preparation for the big day,” said Band Co-Director Timothy Ketterer. “This was a wonderful experience that our students were able to participate in, and I know they will remember this for years to come.”
The parade and celebration, first held in 1996, is dedicated to honoring the rich cultural heritage of colonial America, showing off the pride and patriotism of the Pilgrims, where it all started at Plymouth Rock, the landing point of the Mayflower in 1620.
“It rained and was cold, but that didn’t dampen the students’ spirits!” said Band Co-Director Faydeen Sateriale. “They played all out for the entire parade route. We couldn’t be more proud of them.”
“I am extremely proud of our students for their commitment and dedication to our marching band program,” said Principal Sullivan. “Their pride in showing off their passion to those across the country stands as an example to all students at Burlington High School.”
The event has occurred on the Saturday before Thanksgiving since itsstart. The parade was broadcast on WCVB and WMUR and on over a dozen different Hearst Television stations across the country, ranging from Maine to California.
Burlington High School was also featured on the WCVB morning segment Wake Up Call, which can be viewed here.
