Woburn’s Kennedy Middle School Builders Club Raises $700 During Pink Out Day in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness

WOBURN — Superintendent Matthew Crowley and Principal Carl Nelson are pleased to announce that John F. Kennedy Middle School’s Builders Club raised $700 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Builders Club held a pink out day on Thursday, Oct. 30, where members and other students sported pink t-shirts and pink clothing in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is recognized each October.

Through Pink Out Day, students collected donations to support the Tanner Ta Ta Foundation. The Tanner Ta Ta Foundation was founded in 2010 and sets out to spread awareness and positivity for those dealing with breast cancer.

The Builders Club is a student service initiative sponsored by Kiwanis, an international community service organization, that helps middle school and high school-age students develop leadership and problem-solving skills.

“Cancer is a cause that touches everyone’s lives,” said Principal Nelson. “This is an impactful opportunity for our students to learn how to support causes they believe in and see how to make a real change within their community.”

“We are proud of our students for showing their support,” said Superintendent Crowley. “Through this initiative, students were able to come together as a community and raise money for a great cause.”
