BRIDGEWATER — Chief John Schlatz reports that the Bridgewater Fire Department responded to a house fire on Auburn Street Friday afternoon.
On Friday, Oct. 31, at approximately 1:18 p.m., the Bridgewater Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 155 Auburn St. Upon arrival, Bridgewater Firefighters found smoke coming from the second floor and fire visible on the home’s right side. Crews went to work, launching an interior attack.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack and contained the fire within 20 minutes.
A single occupant evacuated the house on their own and was transported to Morton Hospital by a Raynham Fire Department Ambulance for evaluation.
The fire likely originated in a second-floor bedroom. Bridgewater Fire Department Investigator Capt. Craig Nedell responded and initiated the fire investigation, which is ongoing.
The Middleborough Fire Department responded to the scene to provide mutual aid in addition to the Raynham ambulance, and the East Bridgewater Fire Department covered Bridgewater during the incident.
“Our firefighters did excellent work containing this fire and keeping it from spreading,” Chief Schlatz said. “We also want to offer our gratitude as always to our mutual aid partners. Our communities are always there for each other when duty calls.”
