TAUNTON — Superintendent-Director Dr. Alexandre Magalhaes is excited to share that the Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School has been awarded a $408,000 Skills Capital grant to boost its Automotive Technology and Collision Technology programs.
“Our school plans to use the $408,000 in funding to strengthen our Automotive Technology and Collision Technology programs,” said Program Administrator Glenn M. Lopes. “The grant funding will support the purchase of training vehicles, comprehensive tool sets with toolboxes, a sensor recalibration system and a resistance welder. This equipment will be used to enhance the relocation of the programs into the new school facility.”
On Oct. 20, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced more than $13.5 million for 66 high schools, colleges, educational and workforce organizations to expand access to hands-on learning opportunities and state-of-the-art technology in schools across Massachusetts.
“Massachusetts leads the nation because we invest in ideas — through our schools, our colleges, and our people,” said Gov. Maura Healey. “Our success in innovation and education is no accident — it’s the result of strategic investments. To stay competitive, we need to keep building the best environments for learning and research, and that’s exactly what Skills Capital Grants are doing. They’re how we prepare our students to lead and how we keep Massachusetts leading the world. Our BRIGHT Act dedicates $100 million to Skills Capital Grants to ensure that every community has access to the tools and training that drive opportunity and innovation.”
The state grants are intended to help fund the purchase and installation of modern equipment to support career technical education and training aligned with high-demand industries, such as advanced manufacturing, clean energy, health care and biotechnology.
Besides Automotive Technology and Collision Technology, Bristol-Plymouth offers Career and Technical Education programs in Biotechnology, Business & Applied Technologies, CAD/CAM, Carpentry, Community Health, Computer & Networking Technology, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Dental Assisting, Design & Visual Communications, Early Childhood Education, Electrical Technology, Graphic Design, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), Metal Fabrication, Plumbing, and Robotics & Engineering Technology.

“We’re thrilled to put this grant to work updating two of our most popular programs — Automotive Technology and Collision Technology,” said Superintendent-Director Dr. Magalhaes. “Our goal every day is to prepare our students for the real world. This funding help from our state government will surely enable our faculty and staff to take giant strides closer to fulfilling that all-important goal.”
