Stoneham Police Investigating Stabbing

STONEHAM — Chief James O’Connor reports that the Stoneham Police Department are investigating a stabbing that occurred this morning.

On Sunday, Oct. 12 at approximately 1 a.m., Stoneham Police responded to the area of Spring Street, in Wakefield, for reports of a stabbing.

A preliminary investigation suggests that the incident appeared to have began in Stoneham.

Upon arrival officers located a gray Chevrolet Trax. Armstrong Ambulance had transported two victims to an area hospital. The driver, an 18-year-old male, was suffering from serious injuries, that appear to be non-life threatening.  The passenger, an 18-year-old male, sustained what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

A subsequent investigation suggests that the vehicle was stopped near an unknown intersection, in Stoneham, when an individual wearing a dark hoodie and a mask approached the driver and passenger and was armed with a knife. The driver of the vehicle then continued traveling over the Wakefield line before coming to a stop.

At this time investigators do not believe that there is any danger to the public.

The incident remains under investigation by Stoneham Police Department Detectives along with Massachusetts State Police Detectives.

Stoneham Police would like to thank Wakefield Police and the Massachusetts State Police for their assistance.
