WOBURN — Laughter, conversation, community spirit, and scoops of vanilla ice cream filled Linscott-Rumford Elementary last week, as the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) held its annual Ice Cream Social.
Organized and hosted by the PTO, Linscott-Elementary students and their families were invited to gather for the ‘sweet’ celebration.
As children built their dream sundaes, complete with options of sprinkles, whipped cream, and cherries, parents and teachers mingled over their own cones and bowls, turning the event into not only a chance to eat dessert, but a space to connect.
“Events like this help strengthen the bond between school and home,” said Principal Ken Kessaris. “It’s a fun, low-stress way for families to interact and meet teachers outside of the classroom.”
Volunteers from the staff served scoops, and smiles, while students played in the cafeteria and on the playground, creating a relaxed environment for parents to meet one another and staff members.
The ice cream social has become an annual fall event designed to bring families together early in the school year. Along with Pizza Bingo in the spring, these annual events allow for families to come together to celebrate the school’s strong sense of community.
As one second-grader summed it up while balancing a bowl filled to the brim: “This is the best homework night ever.”
