FALL RIVER — Superintendent Tracy Curley reports that Fall River Public Schools has been offering counseling and supports to students and staff since Sunday, following a weekend crash that claimed the lives of two Fall River students.
One student from B.M.C. Durfee High School and one from the Robert L. Medeiros Resiliency Preparatory Academy were killed in a crash in Dartmouth.
Four schools in Fall River were opened on Sunday, Sept. 21, to provide grief counseling and other services to students, staff, and families. Resources were available at BMC Durfee High School, the RLM Resiliency Preparatory Academy, the John J. Doran Community School, and the Henry Lord Community School on Sunday, and counselors are available at all schools in the district as of this morning and throughout the weeks ahead.
“The loss of two students is heartbreaking, and we are feeling it across multiple schools,” said Superintendent Curley. “Our hearts are with their families, friends, and everyone touched by this loss. We have support available now, and we will continue to provide that support and connect people with services for as long as our students and staff need us to. Healing will take time, but we’ll get through it together as a community.”
