Canton Police Arrest Providence Man in Connection with Stabbing

CANTON — Interim Chief Joseph Perkins reports that the Canton Police Department arrested a Providence man in connection with a stabbing on Wednesday morning.

OSMIN RAMIREZ, AGE 19, of PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, at approximately 7:45 a.m., Canton Police responded to a gas station at 731 Washington St. for a report of a customer dispute.

The preliminary investigation indicates that RAMIREZ was involved in a physical altercation with a coworker outside their van that was parked at a gas pump. During the altercation, RAMIREZ allegedly stabbed a 29-year-old man in the stomach with a pair of scissors.

The victim was taken to a local hospital by the Canton Fire Department and is expected to survive his injuries.

Following an on-scene investigation, RAMIREZ was taken into custody without further incident.

RAMIREZ was arraigned on Wednesday in Stoughton District Court and held on $2,500 bail.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
