Maynard Police Department Arrests and Charges Two Women with Keeping a House of Prostitution

MAYNARD — The Maynard Police Department arrested two women on prostitution-related charges at a local business on Tuesday morning.

MAYNARD — The Maynard Police Department arrested two women on prostitution-related charges at a local business on Tuesday morning.

MEIYING CHENG, age 57, of FLUSHING, N.Y., was arrested and charged with:

  • Deriving Support from Prostitution
  • Inducing Prostitution on Premises
  • Keeping a House of Prostitution
  • Engaging in Sexual Conduct for a Fee

JIANPING WU, age 68, of MALDEN, was arrested and charged with:

  • Deriving Support from Prostitution
  • Inducing Prostitution on Premises
  • Keeping a House of Prostitution
  • Engaging in Sexual Conduct for a Fee

On the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 5, Maynard Police served a search warrant at Asian Spa, 107 Main St., 2nd Floor. The search warrant was obtained as a result of a weekslong investigation into possible prostitution activity. 

Items seized during the search include cell phones, cash, checks, account information, ledgers, and other items consistent with organized prostitution.

Both CHENG and WU were taken into custody as the warrant was served. Both will be arraigned on Wednesday in Concord District Court. 

The investigation was conducted by Maynard Police with assistance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Human Trafficking Unit and Massachusetts State Police. 

“Our department heard from community members who had concerns about the activity that was occurring at this business, and we heard those concerns and investigated,” said Police Chief Christopher Troiano. “I want to thank the Department of Homeland Security and Massachusetts State Police for their assistance with this investigation. I want to credit our officers and detectives here in Maynard, and thank the people of Maynard for the information they provided us. The Maynard community that we are a part of will not tolerate this type of activity.”
