WAYLAND — Assistant Chief Richard Ripley reports that the Wayland Fire Department knocked down a kitchen fire Thursday in a local home.
Crews received a call at 6:58 p.m. Thursday, June 26, about a fire at 14 Emerson Road. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming out of the eaves of the building and active fire in the home’s kitchen. The resident had already left the structure.
Immediately crews struck a second alarm. Firefighters stretched a line into the kitchen and also rescued the resident’s dog. The fire was knocked down pretty quickly.
Wayland received mutual aid from the Framingham, Lincoln, Natick and Weston Fire Departments. Crews from Concord and Wellesley covered Wayland’s stations.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wayland Fire Department and the State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
