MEDWAY — Superintendent Armand Pires is pleased to announce that Medway Public Schools honored more than 20 of the District’s most dedicated volunteers during a Volunteer Appreciation Event on Thursday, June 12.

“An important ingredient to Medway Schools’ recipe for success is the willingness for parents and community members to step up and help,” Superintendent Pires told the audience. “I feel privileged to witness firsthand the profound impact your dedication has on our students, our staff, programs and our entire district.”

More than 20 volunteers from the Medway Education Parent Teacher Organization (MEPTO), Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC), Medway Foundation for Education (MFE), Athletic Advisory Committee (AAC), Medway Friends of the Performing Arts (MFPA), and other various school councils, received recognition prior to Thursday night’s regular School Committee meeting.

“You are the backbone of so many vital initiatives, and your commitment goes far beyond what words can fully capture,” Superintendent Pires said. “When we talk about the thousands of hours you collectively pour into supporting our programs, our schools, and our district, it’s not just a number — it represents countless moments of care, effort, and passion. You don’t just show up; you dive in, making a tangible difference every single day.”

Superintendent Pires personally called each volunteer to the front of the room, where they received a token of appreciation from Assistant Superintendent Paul Peri.

“In the room tonight are individuals from the many organizations who support our work every day,” Superintendent Pires said Thursday evening. “Whether you’re serving as part of the Medway Foundation for Education and ensuring that we have access to resources for innovation, championing our student-athletes through the Athletic Advisory Committee, providing essential guidance on our School Site Councils, collaborating with the School Committee and administration to represent our most vulnerable learners by serving on SEPAC, building community and supporting learning with the Medway Education PTO, fostering creativity and elevating the focus and appreciation on performing arts with the Medway Friends of Performing Arts, or dedicating countless hours to strategic oversight on the School Committee, your contributions are simply outstanding.”

“The simple truth is that without those of you in this room and the organizations that you represent, we would not be the district that we are today,” Superintendent Pires concluded. “You enrich the educational experience for all our students, you lighten the load for our educators, and you strengthen the fabric of our community. Thank you for being such an indispensable part of the Medway Public Schools family. Your work is not just appreciated; it is absolutely essential.”
