Dighton Fire Department Extinguishes Fire in Garage of Single-Family Home

DIGHTON — Chief Christopher Maguy reports that the Dighton Fire Department and its mutual aid partners battled a garage fire early Thursday morning.

DIGHTON — Chief Christopher Maguy reports that the Dighton Fire Department and its mutual aid partners battled a garage fire early Thursday morning.

Crews received a call at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, June 19, about a fire at 794 Main St., a single-family home. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fire in a corner of the garage. The fire burned through the roof.

Along with crews from Somerset and Swansea, Dighton firefighters quickly contained and knocked down the blaze. There were no firefighter injuries. All occupants of the home were able to leave on their own after Dighton Police and passersby alerted them to the fire.

Berkley and Rehoboth crews covered Dighton’s stations.

The fire remains under investigation by the Dighton Fire Department, with assistance from the State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
