GLOUCESTER — Chief Eric Smith reports that the Gloucester Fire Department responded Tuesday and extinguished a garage fire on Mt. Pleasant Avenue.

On Tuesday, May 20, at 3:42 p.m., the Gloucester Fire Department was called to 102 Mt. Pleasant Ave. for a report of a possible structure fire.

Companies arrived on scene at 3:44 p.m. and discovered smoke showing from a detached garage.

Companies stretched two hose lines and knocked down the bulk of the fire in the detached garage by 3:57 p.m.

The garage suffered fire and smoke damage, but the home on the property was not damaged. There were no reported injuries.

Beauport Ambulance provided support at the scene. Rockport firefighters covered Gloucester stations.

The cause remains under investigation by the Gloucester Fire Department.
