EAST BRIDGEWATER — The East Bridgewater Fire Department is pleased to announce that John Dzialo was officially sworn into his new role as Fire Chief on Monday.
Chief Dzialo began in his new position on Monday, May 5, and was officially sworn in during the East Bridgewater Select Board meeting on Monday evening.
During the meeting, Chief Dzialo was sworn in by Town Clerk Kathleen Cavanagh and pinned by his wife, Tammy Dzialo. His children, parents, in-laws and members representing various area fire departments were also in attendance.
“I’m really excited,” Chief Dzialo said. “To the members of the East Bridgewater Fire Department, I look forward to working with all of you. I think we’re going to develop a great team, attitude and spirit, and I’m really grateful to the Select Board as well for choosing me to carry on a legacy here in East Bridgewater.”
Chief Dzialo has nearly 18 years of experience in the fire service. He joined the Easton Fire Department in July 2007 as a Firefighter/Paramedic and was promoted to Lieutenant in September 2015. In October 2017, he was promoted to Captain and has served as a shift Captain and officer in charge for the last two years.
In Easton, Chief Dzialo also served as a Fire Training Coordinator, Fire Prevention Officer and Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E) Coordinator. He was recognized with a Meritus Service Award from the department in September 2023.
“The Town of East Bridgewater is fortunate to have the opportunity to hire John Dzialo as Fire Chief,” Town Administrator Charles Seelig said. “His past experience as a firefighter and paramedic in the Easton Fire Department, along with his leadership roles as Lieutenant and Captain in the Department, make him well-suited to take on the responsibilities of Fire Chief here in East Bridgewater.”
