PLYMOUTH — Chief Neil Foley is pleased to announce that nine Plymouth firefighters graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy on Friday.

Firefighters Matthew Basler, Joshua Batres, Gareth Brown, Anthony DePasquale, Kevin Disher, Gregory Lapollo, Jonathan License, Joseph Pravati and Andrew Smith were among the 36 graduates in the Career Recruit Firefighter Training Program Class #329.

During the 50-day training program, participants receive classroom training in all basic firefighter skills. They practice first under non-fire conditions and then during controlled fire conditions. The graduates are now certified at the level of Firefighter I and II and in hazardous material operations.

“Massachusetts firefighters are on the frontlines protecting their communities every day, and today’s graduates are needed now more than ever,” said State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine. “The hundreds of hours of foundational training they’ve received will provide them with the physical, mental, and technical skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely.”

The 39 graduates of Class #329 represent the fire departments of Arlington, Ashland, Chelmsford, Devens, Framingham, Lakeville, Leominster, Lynnfield, Maynard, Millville, Nantucket, Natick, Northbridge, Plymouth, Shrewsbury, Sudbury, Wellesley, and Westminster.

“I’m incredibly proud to congratulate these nine firefighters on their graduation from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy,” Chief Foley said. “This achievement is a testament to their hard work, commitment, and readiness to serve our community. We welcome them into the Plymouth Fire Department!”
