PLYMOUTH — Deputy Chief Jerome Hart reports that the Plymouth Fire Department fought a fire Friday at a condominium complex.

On Friday, March 21, at about 8 p.m., Plymouth firefighters were called to 7 Tideview Path, a building in the Pine Hills Village Condominiums, for a report of a fire in a second-floor unit.

Upon arrival, crews discovered fire coming from a second-floor window. A resident had put food on the stove, left it unattended for 15 minutes and returned to find the fire. Fire extended to the third floor, and into the eaves of the roof. Six units received fire, smoke, and/or water damage. The other six units in the building incurred smoke damage.

Firefighters knocked down the blaze in about 30 minutes.

The building is uninhabitable. The American Red Cross is at the scene, assisting the town’s Emergency Operations Center in finding housing for an unknown number of residents.

Crews from Bourne and Carver provided coverage at Plymouth stations. The Plymouth Fire Department, which was also attending to other calls in town, recalled off-duty personnel to assist.
