On Tuesday, Dec. 10, members of the Methuen Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit were conducting surveillance in the area of Swan and Prospect streets, a high-crime area that is known for drug activity, when they observed what they believed to be a drug transaction.

Members of the unit conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle that was involved in the transaction, and identified CIESLIK as the driver of that vehicle.

Detectives quickly assessed potential risks, including attempts by CIESLIK to conceal items, and managed the situation with a focus on safety and professionalism.

A subsequent on-scene investigation located illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded Desert Eagle .45 caliber firearm with hollow-point ammunition in CIESLIK’s possession.

CIESLIK was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

“This successful operation emphasizes the skill, dedication, and teamwork of the Methuen Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit,” said Chief McNamara. “Their investigative expertise and commitment to public safety not only removed dangerous narcotics and an illegally possessed firearm from the streets but also demonstrated the department’s unwavering dedication to protecting our community. This case exemplifies exceptional detective work and highlights the importance of proactive policing in maintaining community safety.”

CIESLIK was arraigned Wednesday in Lawrence District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
