Avon Police Department Swears in Two New Officers

AVON — Chief Jeffrey Bukunt is pleased to announce that the Avon Police Department swore in two new officers.

AVON — Chief Jeffrey Bukunt is pleased to announce that the Avon Police Department swore in two new officers this week.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, Officers Mathew Palin and Crisolita Montrond were sworn in during a ceremony during a Select Board meeting at the Avon Town Hall. Chief Bukunt swore in the new officers.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Officers Matthew Palin and Cristola Montrond to the Avon Police Department,” Chief Bukunt said. “I am confident that they will go above and beyond to serve and protect our community, and I expect great things to come from these two new officers.”

Officers Palin and Montrond both graduated from the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Randolph Police Academy’s 20th Recruit Officer Class (ROC) on Nov. 15.

“These officers completed over 20 weeks of intensive, standardized training in all aspects of law enforcement and will now begin a 12-week Field Training Program at the Avon Police Department,” Chief Bukunt said. “If you see them out on the beat, please congratulate them and welcome them to Avon.”

Officer Palin, a West Bridgewater native, earned his bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and most recently served as a correctional officer with the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department.

He was pinned by his mother Lisa. His father Richard and brother Chris proudly joined them at the ceremony.

Officer Montrond, a Brockton native, earned her associate’s degree in criminal justice from the New England Institute of Technology in Rhode Island. Most recently, she served as a correctional officer at MCI — Framingham.

She was pinned by her sisters Claudia Montrond and Maria Centeio. Her mother, Teresa, and boyfriend, Garry St. Cyr, proudly joined them at the ceremony.
