MIDDLEBOROUGH — Fire Chief Owen Thompson reports that the Middleborough Fire Department responded to a dump truck rollover on Interstate 495 early this morning.

On Friday, Nov. 22, at approximately 5:12 a.m., Middleborough Fire responded to Interstate 495 North, south of Exit 12, for a report of a single-vehicle rollover.

Upon arrival, firefighters located a 10-wheel dump truck towing a trailer with two asphalt rollers tipped onto its side in the right and breakdown lanes.

The driver of the dump truck, the sole occupant, was not injured.

The right and breakdown lanes were closed for several hours due to a fuel spill that included about eight to nine gallons of oil and coolant that spilled from the asphalt rollers.

Big Wheel Towing and Recovery, Frank Corporation Environmental Services, and a Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection representative responded to the scene to assist.

Massachusetts State Police, including the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, commonly known as the Truck Team, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation also responded.

State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
