WOBURN — Each month, the Woburn elementary schools select a different character trait for students to strive toward, earning them celebratory PAWS. September featured respect, and October highlighted responsibility.
This November, the Reeves School will celebrate U.S. Soccer Olympic Gold Medalist Abby Wambach’s “The Wolfpack Way” as its monthly character trait.
Reeves Elementary School recently changed its slogan to “Welcome to the Wolfpack,” after its mascot, the Wolves. Coincidentally, Wambach wrote and released a book this month titled “The Wolfpack Way.”
“The Wolfpack Way” spreads the message of having individuality and pride, but also knowing you are not alone and always have your wolfpack to support you.
Each classroom has a copy of Wambach’s book, and each student will be given a poster, which Wambach gifted to the students. The school was also gifted a few signed posters, which have been dispersed throughout the building.
The Reeves Wolves will have the opportunity to earn PAWS through actively practicing the eight components of The Wolfpack Way:
- Create your own path.
- Be grateful for what you have, AND claim what you deserve.
- You are the leader of your own life. Lead now – from wherever you are.
- It’s okay to mess up! Just don’t give up!
- Let kindness lead the way. Be FOR each other.
- Believe in yourself. You know the way.
- Be your full self, and let others be their full selves, too.
- You’re never alone. You’ve got your Pack, and they’ve got your back!
At Reeves, once students earn their PAWS, they can hang them on the wall to celebrate their application of that month’s assigned character trait. The school has a saying to go along with the tradition, “Earn a paw and give a HOWL (Helping Others While Learning).”
The Wolfpack Way trait was introduced and posters were handed out to students at the school’s monthly assembly on Oct. 30.
“All of us at the Reeves School would like to thank Abby Wambach and her team for her thoughtful gift of the posters, which will help guide our students while they practice the eight components of the Wolfpack Way,” Principal Matthew Comenitz said. “We are looking forward to seeing how our students show their individuality and support their pack over the next month and beyond!”
