STOUGHTON — Chief Donna McNamara reports that the Stoughton Police Department arrested a Boston man on breaking and entering, assault, and motor vehicle charges early Tuesday morning.

ELIJAH PEEPLES, AGE 25, of BOSTON, was arrested and charged with:

  • Breaking and Entering During the Nighttime with the Intent to Commit a Felony
  • Domestic Assault
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Failure to Stop for a Red Light

On Tuesday, Oct. 22, at approximately 12:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to Golden Road for a report of a house actively being broken into.

Officer Destine was the first officer to arrive in the area and noticed a vehicle that quickly pulled onto Central Street from Golden Road. Officer Destine believed that the car may be related to the breaking and entering call and decided to follow it.

Officer Destine observed that the vehicle increased its speed and failed to stop for a red light. A short distance later, the car crashed, and the operator fled on foot.

After a brief search of the area, Officer Marden located the suspect, identified as PEEPLES, near Cobb Corner and took him into custody without incident.

PEEPLES was booked at the Stoughton Police Department and arraigned Tuesday in Stoughton District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
