The Council on Aging (COA) van service has been extended to include the following hours:

  • Monday between 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., last trip departing the COA at 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday between  8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., last trip departing the COA at 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., last trip departing the COA at 4 p.m.
  • Thursday between 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., last trip departing the COA at 3 p.m.
  • Friday between 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., last trip departing the COA at 1 p.m.

Additionally, the Acton Rides Taxi Pilot — introduced in 2023 — will end after exhausting its allocated funding on Friday, Nov. 1.

The successful pilot program — which allowed participants to schedule free taxi rides during hours when the town’s existing transportation services are not operating, such as evenings and weekends — was introduced in 2023 through a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) with supplemental funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) approved by the Select Board in late August 2024.

These changes to the Town’s transportation services began on Oct. 21. Those with questions can reach out to the Transportation Office at 978-929-6611 or transportation@actonma.gov.

The Town offers two additional transportation services, the MinuteVan Dial-a-Ride and the Cross-Acton Transit (CAT bus).

The MinuteVan Dial-a-Ride is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. for any adult, anyone 12 or over with permission or younger if accompanied by an adult to get a ride anywhere in Acton, Boxborough, Littleton, Maynard, medical facilities in Concord as well as other select locations.

The Cross-Acton Transit (CAT bus) operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. for any adult, anyone 12 or over with permission or younger if accompanied by an adult. The CAT bus runs on a fixed route in Acton.
