STONEHAM — Police Chief James O’Connor and Superintendent of Schools David Ljungberg report that the Stoneham Police Department is investigating an incident involving juveniles.
On Wednesday, Sept. 4, at approximately 7:05 p.m. Stoneham Police were called to Redstone Plaza for a report of an altercation among several Stoneham Public School students. A preliminary on-scene investigation determined that a large group of students were hanging out at Robinhood Elementary School when a smaller segment of the group began arguing.
All students proceeded to go to Redstone Plaza. While at Redstone Plaza, it is alleged that students were making racist comments toward another student. A knife was allegedly brandished during the altercation, but there were no injuries.
One juvenile, a middle school student, is being summonsed to appear in Woburn District Court, as a result of the incident.
The school district, Stoneham Central Middle School, and Stoneham High School administrators are in contact with the students involved and the families of those students. Students involved may also face discipline in accordance with the district’s code of conduct
The investigation remains active and ongoing. With the exception of youthful offenders, juvenile proceedings are closed to the public.
