LUDLOW — Chief Daniel Valadas reports that the Ludlow Police have charged a Leeds man in connection with a vandalism incident at a church last week.
On Aug. 20, Ludlow Police responded to the Cathedral of Life Church on Central Street for reports of vandalism.
A preliminary investigation identified ROBERT DAY, AGE 63, of LEEDS as the suspect. The investigation also determined that DAY damaged the exterior door of the building, and nothing inside the church was removed or damaged.
On Friday, Aug. 23, Northampton Police were notified that DAY was last seen in the area. Northampton Police then executed an arrest warrant for DAY, for his connection to the incident in Ludlow.
DAY was arraigned in Northampton District Court on Aug. 23.
DAY is scheduled to appear in Palmer District Court on Oct. 18.
At this time this incident is not believed to be a hate crime.
“I commend the Ludlow Police Officers and Detectives who diligently worked on this case which resulted in a quick identification of the sole perpetrator and subsequent arrest,” said Chief Valadas. “I would like to also thank the Northampton Police Department for their assistance in the arrest of the wanted suspect.”
