TYNGSBOROUGH — Chief Richard Howe reports that the Tyngsborough Police Department will be closing several roads in town and restricting traffic on the Merrimack River during the town’s annual Party at the Bridge.
On Saturday, Aug. 24, the Town of Tyngsborough will celebrate the annual Tyngsborough Block Party at the Bridge from 11 a.m. until dusk, when there will be a fireworks display over the river.
The Tyngsborough Block Party at the Bridge will include food and dessert trucks, craft vendors, interactive booths, local artisans, pony rides, a petting zoo, games for children, craft beer and specialty wines for those 21 and over, as well as a dunk tank.
For public safety purposes, the following traveling restrictions will be in effect:
- Kendall Road (Route 113) will be closed to through traffic from Bryant Lane to Middlesex Road from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Winslow Road will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- The Tyngsborough Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicles and pedestrians from approximately 7-7:15 p.m. to allow the fireworks barge to safely pass under.
- The Tyngsborough Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for the duration of the fireworks display from approximately 8:30-9 p.m.
- The Merrimack River will be closed to passing civilian boat traffic near the Tyngsborough Bridge area from 7-9 p.m.
- Marine Patrols from the Massachusetts Environmental Police, Tyngsborough Police, and Tyngsborough Fire Department will be on scene enforcing a 280-foot safety zone around the fireworks barge. The safety zone will begin at 5 p.m. with a partial river closure and at 7 p.m. All marine traffic will be halted in the area from the Tyngsborough Bridge south for 560 feet until the completion of the event. Public safety vessels assisting the event may be contacted via Channel 13/16 VHF-FM. Mariners are advised to use caution when transiting the area.
“We encourage all those coming out to enjoy the Block Party at the Bridge to keep these road closures in mind and to take alternate routes so we can all be safe as we enjoy this great event,” said Chief Howe.
