Fairhaven Police Department Responds to Fatal Crash on Main Street

FAIRHAVEN — Lt. Kevin Kobza reports that the Fairhaven Police Department responded to the scene of a fatal accident on Saturday night.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, at about 7:11 p.m., officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a Chevy Silverado truck and moped on Main Street in the area of Riverside Cemetery near the Route 195 overpass.

The driver of the moped was seriously injured. Fairhaven Fire Department paramedics transported the moped driver by medical ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The Chevy Silverado’s driver left the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that the moped and Silverado both were traveling southbound at the time of the crash. 

The crash remains under active investigation by the Fairhaven Police Department, State Police Crime Prevention and Control (CPAC) Unit, and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
