DIGHTON – Town Administrator Michael Mullen, together with the Dighton Board of Selectmen and Highway Superintendent Tom Ferry, wishes to share the following information regarding updated transfer station sticker fees and rates, effective July 1.
Increases to the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Transfer Station sticker fee and rates will take effect at the beginning of FY25 on July 1, 2024.
New FY25 stickers are available at a cost of $30 and will be effective from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.
Residents who have purchased a Calendar Year 2024 sticker will be assessed an additional $15 for an updated FY25 sticker for the use of the Transfer Station after July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.
Due to significant cost increases being incurred by the Town, the Transfer Station will no longer accept trailer loads or truck loads of miscellaneous and/or demolition debris as of and after July 1.
Updates to the Transfer Station sticker fee and rate structure were recently approved by the Board of Selectmen based on the recommendation of the Solid Waste Committee to align revenues and expenses on a fiscal year basis rather than a calendar basis.
These updates aim to make the Transfer Station facility more self-sustaining with costs being incurred by Transfer Station users rather than all town taxpayers.
Approved changes to the updated rate schedule include an updated charge of $30 to accept freon-included items (refrigerators and air conditioners). Rigid plastics will now be accepted at a cost of $10 per item. The Transfer Station does not accept any bagged items.
