WAREHAM — Superintendent Matt D’Andrea, Unified Arts Department Chair Andrea Ericson and Wareham Middle School art teacher Cynthia Gedraitis are pleased to share that the Wareham Middle School is now featuring student artwork at the Wareham Free Library.

The students’ work is on display from May 14-31 and the Wareham Middle School will host a gallery opening reception at the Wareham Free Library on Monday, May 20 from 5-6 p.m.

The opening reception for the gallery, titled “Sweets and Tweets,” is free for community members to attend.

“It’s incredible to see students draw inspiration from the art movements studied in class and apply the skills they have learned to their own works,” said Ericson. “We are so excited to share our art students’ hard work with the Wareham community!

Over 100 art pieces from 5th and 6th-grade art classes are being showcased at the library. Watercolor paintings and oil pastel drawings inspired by the colorful still lifes of Wayne Thiebaud and geometric drawings by Charley Harper are featured. The gallery also contains value drawings, cherry blossom collages, and optical (op) art pieces.

“It’s been a pleasure watching our students progress as artists throughout the term,” art teacher Gedraitis said. “We have a lot of talent to spotlight this month!”
