Stoneham Police, Stoneham Fire, Stoneham Public Schools Discuss Emergency Preparedness Plan During Monthly Meeting

STONEHAM — Police Chief James O’Connor, Fire Chief Matthew Grafton and Superintendent David Ljungberg report that school and public safety officials met to discuss the district’s emergency preparedness plan during their monthly preparedness meeting last week.

Stoneham Public Schools and Stoneham Police and Fire met on Friday, April 26 to discuss their operational plans regarding emergency preparedness. Stoneham School District and Stoneham Public Safety officials meet monthly to discuss ongoing efforts and initiatives to help best meet the needs of the community.

Participants included Police Chief O’Connor, Lieutenant David Thistle, School Resource Officer Emily Dello Russo, Fie Chief Grafton, Captain Dave Eastman, Superintendent Ljungberg, Assistant Superintendent Kathy Martin, and School Committee Member Megan Samborski. 

The meeting covered topics such as practicing cohesive messaging as it relates to the district and safety communication plan, opportunities for continued Standard Response Protocol and ALICE training, and how to implement plans and new training in the classroom at all grade levels. 

Meetings are held every month at a different school in the district and include administrative staff and Principals from each school. Meetings have been held since the beginning of the school year. 

The goal of these monthly meetings is to strengthen the relationships between public safety personnel and the school district through collaboration, idea sharing, and discussion centered around being prepared for every kind of emergency situation. 

The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 24.
