Newport Police Charge Lowell Man with Sexual Offenses Against a Juvenile

NEWPORT — Chief Travis Bingham announces that the Newport Police Department is charging a man on multiple sexual offenses involving a child.

NEWPORT — Chief Travis Bingham announces that the Newport Police Department is charging a man on multiple sexual offenses involving a child.

DANIEL RIELLY, AGE 66, of LOWELL, is charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child
  • Lewd and Lascivious Conduct with a Child

In September 2023, police received allegations that a man, later determined to be RIELLY, had sexually assaulted a child in Newport Center multiple times over a number of years. 

Based on an extensive police investigation, which included an interview with RIELLY, Newport Police arrested RIELLY on Friday, April 12.

RIELLY is currently held at the Northern State Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday, April 15, at Orleans County Superior Courthouse, Criminal Division.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
