Burlington Police and Fire Departments Respond to Motor Vehicle Crash into Bank Building,Driver Summonsed

BURLINGTON — Police Chief Thomas Browne and Fire Chief Andrew Connerty report the Burlington Police and Fire Departments responded and are investigating after an unregistered, uninsured car crashed into a bank building Thursday morning.   

On Thursday, April 11 at approximately 6:27 a.m., Burlington Police and Fire responded to 182 Cambridge Streetfor reports of a car that had crashed into a Santander Bank.  

Upon arrival, crews observed a car that appeared to have crashed into the lobby of the bank and damage to both the interior and exterior of the building. There was also damage to the outdoor area leading into the bank. 

The adult male driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to an area hospital for their injuries.  

There were no other reported injuries.  

The Building Inspector also responded to the scene. The Santander is expected to reopen for business today. 

The driver of the vehicle, a 46-YEAR-OLD, MALE from DESOTO, TEXAS, will be summonsed and charged with:

  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • Driving without Insurance
  • Driving an Unregistered Vehicle
  • Attaching Plates
  • Speeding

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Burlington Police Department.
