Attleboro Public Schools Encourages Families to Take Advantage of Resources at Welcome Center

ATTLEBORO — Superintendent David Sawyer and Director of Family Engagement and Assistance Joanne DiPalma are encouraging Attleboro families to take advantage of the many resources available at the Welcome Center to help connect families to the Attleboro Public Schools (APS).

ATTLEBORO — Superintendent David Sawyer and Director of Family Engagement and Assistance Joanne DiPalma are encouraging Attleboro families to take advantage of the many resources available at the Welcome Center to help connect families to the Attleboro Public Schools (APS).

Families can visit the Welcome Center at One Blue Pride Way through the Central Office entrance of Attleboro High School. The Welcome Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, but resources can also be accessed on the district website. Any changes in times will be posted on the Attleboro Public Schools website.

The Welcome Center serves as the connection between Attleboro Public Schools and the community. The center is the first stop for new families and provides access to opportunities and resources that are offered by both Attleboro Public Schools and the wider Attleboro community. Information can be found both in-person at the center and on the Welcome Center website, available in several languages. Families are encouraged to contact the center if additional translations are needed.

The Welcome Center officially opened in the summer of 2022 and the district has been working to add additional resources for families to take advantage of. Some of the resources at the Welcome Center include:

New Student Registration

All new student registrations are completed through the Welcome Center. Prospective families can view registration procedures, step-by-step directions on how to enroll students in Attleboro Public Schools, and all forms relevant to the registration process on the APS Registration webpage. While registration must be done online using a computer, the Welcome Center provides free computer access and assistance with the registration process.

To request access to a computer or support with the registration process, please email registration@attleboroschools.com, call the Welcome Center, or schedule an appointment.

Kindergarten Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for students entering Kindergarten through grade 12 in the 2024-2025 school year.  Parents and guardians who are registering a student for Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year must register by May 1, 2024, to guarantee enrollment in their neighborhood school. After May 1, enrollment in your neighborhood school cannot be guaranteed. To find your neighborhood school, please visit the Kindergarten Registration webpage.

Community Resource Guide

The Welcome Center provides connections to local resources by collaborating with students, staff and families to help identify needs and then connect to the appropriate supports within the Attleboro community. Families can access these resources by contacting the Welcome Center directly and meeting with a representative, or through the online APS Community Resource guide.

This comprehensive guide includes information and contacts for local organizations that provide childcare options, food access, computer or hotspot access, support groups, health centers, mental health resources, and housing support, including information about the William and James INTERFACE helpline, available to all Attleboro residents or students of Attleboro Public Schools.

Additionally, support for highly mobile students who qualify for support under the federal McKinney-Vento Act can also be accessed by contacting the Assistant Director of Family Engagement and assistance, located within the Welcome Center.

Additional Welcome Center Services

Supplementary information for the school year can also be found through the Welcome Center, including school supply lists, “how-to” tutorials and transportation information. The Community Fliers page shares the most updated extracurricular activities and community events. Athletic sign-ups, parent workshops, camps and other community events for children and families can be found on the Community Fliers page.

“We saw a need for a one-stop place to house all of the resources that families from our diverse community would need to ensure a successful school experience,” Director DiPalma said. “We have worked diligently on developing local connections to help support our families in a wide range of areas. Whether it’s enrolling students, locating needed resources or answering questions, we’re ready to serve our families.”
