CANTON — Town Administrator Charles Doody and Town Planner TJ Torres are pleased to announce that Altura Solutions, LLC is the selected consultant to complete the Town of Canton’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan.
Altura Solutions, LLC is a Texas-based consulting firm that specializes in ADA accessibility. The firm was the winning bidder in the publicly posted solicitation process conducted by the Town of Canton’s Finance and Planning Departments.
The Transition Plan created by Altura Solutions, LLC will build on the ADA Self-Evaluation work done in 2016 by KMA Architecture and Accessibility. It is anticipated that the final plan will be completed by February 2025.
Self-Evaluation and Transition Plans are required under the Administrative Requirements of Title II of the ADA. The self-evaluation portion examines the town’s public facilities, programs, services and more to determine ADA compliance and identify barriers to accessibility. The subsequent Transition Plan assesses identified barriers and guides corrective actions to ensure full ADA accessibility.
“We look forward to working with Altura Solutions to complete our ADA Transition Plan and ensure equitable access to Canton’s facilities, programs and services,” Town Administrator Doody said. “The completed Transition Plan will highlight any remaining deficiencies so that they can be addressed and corrected.”
This work is being fully funded by a state grant received by the town last fall. The Community Compact Grant, administered by the Division of Local Services, is open to all 351 municipalities and provides direct assistance in achieving best practices via grants for consulting services.
