NEMLEC Police Foundation Hosting 21st Annual Golf Tournament, Honoring Ret. Officer Charles ‘Chuck’ DiChiara

DRACUT — The Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) Police Foundation will be hosting its 21st annual golf tournament on Monday, May 18 at Four Oaks Country Club in Dracut.

Since its inception in 2005, the NEMLEC Police Foundation and its all-volunteer board of directors have raised funds to benefit 72 law enforcement agencies in the NEMLEC communities.

NEMLEC agencies continuously train to better prepare officers in high pressure situations resulting in more positive outcomes and greater collaboration within their communities. Funds raised by NEMLEC benefit member departments by supporting police training, programs and services.

The golf tournament will be held on Monday, May 18 at Four Oaks Country Club, 1 Clubhouse Lane, Dracut. Check-in and registration will begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The shotgun start will be at 1 p.m.

A buffet-style dinner will follow 18 holes of golf.

Once again, The NEMLEC Police Foundation will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the tournament to Cops for Kids with Cancer, a non-profit organization that helps raise money on behalf of law enforcement to help families of children with cancer.

This year’s tournament will honor retired Waltham Police Officer Charles “Chuck” DiChiara.

With 35 years of experience as a sworn police officer in the Greater Boston area, DiChiara is one of the most well-respected law enforcement professionals and dedicated leaders not only in the state, but nationwide.

DiChiara holds a bachelor’s degree in human services/criminal justice from Springfield College, and has extensive experience in policing and training, including 32 years with the NEMLEC SWAT team. He holds multiple training certifications from all levels of government, in addition to private entities. Throughout his career, he has trained over 10,000 police officers and 4,000 law enforcement instructors in 22 states and seven countries.

Currently, DiChiara serves as the Statewide Coordinator of Defensive Tactics and Use of Force and sits on the International Advisory Board for the Defense Technologies Police Training Group. He is an independent consultant and expert witness in cases involving police use of force, police misconduct and defensive tactics, and he is court-qualified in District Court, Superior Court, and United States District Court.

He also owns AbPro Associates, a training and consulting company specializing in tactical communication and leadership, active threat response, de-escalation tactics, female self-defense and combat, and use of force.

The NEMLEC Police Foundation is currently seeking sponsors to support the tournament. Depending on the donation level, sponsors names may be exclusively displayed at one of the 18 holes and/or included on our recognition banner displayed throughout the day and evening.
