MEDWAY — Superintendent Armand Pires, McGovern Elementary School Principal Amy McDonald and Burke-Memorial Elementary School Principal John Kelley are proud to share that two Medway Public School teachers were recently honored for their professionalism, skill and deep commitment to their students during the inaugural TEC (The Education Cooperative) Celebrates Teaching breakfast held on Wednesday.
Amanda Moroney, a third-grade teacher at Burke-Memorial Elementary School, and Julie Pierangeli, a first-grade teacher at McGovern Elementary School, were selected by Medway Public Schools to represent the district at the event, which recognized outstanding educators from across The Education Cooperative’s member districts.
TEC Celebrates Teaching is The Education Cooperative’s inaugural celebration honoring the professionalism, skill and deep commitment of educators across its member districts, shining a spotlight on the remarkable work educators do every day, highlighting their expertise and dedication.
Each district was invited to select two educators whose work exemplifies one of five celebration themes, which were designed to recognize both early-career and veteran educators, emphasizing the complexity, creativity and meaningful impact of educators across various roles and career stages.
Moroney was recognized under the theme “Everyone’s Welcome Here,” which celebrates educators who build classrooms where inclusion and belonging comes first so that effective learning can follow. Moroney was recognized for her efforts that have created a welcoming classroom environment, where students feel valued, supported and encouraged to share their experiences and backgrounds.
Pierangeli was recognized under the theme “Brick by Brick,” which honors educators who demonstrate patience and persistence in helping students achieve meaningful growth. Over the past two years, all of her students have reached benchmarks for their grades in reading, reflecting her dedication to thoughtful instruction, data-driven teaching methods and a strong belief in her students’ ability to succeed.
TEC Celebrates Teaching, which organizers plan to make an annual event, was organized by The Education Cooperative, a public educational collaborative based in East Walpole. TEC is a nonprofit public education collaborative established in 1968 that supports member districts to provide specialized education programs addressing diverse learning, social-emotional, physical and health needs.
“Julie represents the very best of our teaching staff. We are so grateful for the care and dedication she brings to her students every day,” said Principal McDonald. “We are very proud to see Julie recognized for her hard work, persistence and commitment to helping every student grow and succeed.”
“Amanda creates a classroom where every student feels welcomed, valued and supported, which is crucial for student learning and confidence,” said Principal Kelley. “This recognition is very well-deserved, and we are extremely grateful for the positive impact she has on her students and school community.”
“This recognition highlights the incredible work our teachers do every day across Medway Public Schools,” Superintendent Pires said. “We are very proud of Amanda and Julie for this well-deserved recognition, and we are grateful for the dedication they bring every day to their students, families and our school community.”
